Presenter Resources

A collection of videos, templates, and practical guidance to support presenters preparing oral or poster presentations for the Child and Youth Health Research Conference.

Oral Presentations

Presenting with Precision

A 10‑part series on designing and delivering stronger presentations.

This series walks through the fundamentals of creating clear, engaging presentations—whether you’re preparing a research talk, keynote, or lecture. It covers audience connection, messaging, narrative structure, slide design, stage presence, and how people actually learn from presentations. You’ll also find practical guidance on visuals, multimedia, managing nerves, and adapting your delivery for virtual formats.

The opening video outlines the core goal of the series: building the confidence to “crush it” by understanding your audience, establishing trust, defining the action you want them to take, and focusing on essential content. It previews the journey from high‑level principles to concrete techniques, and introduces the nine key propositions explored in the rest of the playlist.

How to Create a Better Research Poster

A fresh approach to designing clearer, more engaging scientific posters.

This video challenges the traditional “wall‑of‑text” academic poster and proposes a simpler, more effective layout that improves how quickly and clearly your audience can understand your work. It explains why conventional poster sessions often feel overwhelming, and introduces a design strategy that makes posters easier to create, easier to read, and more enjoyable to engage with.

Evidence‑Based Poster Design That Attracts More Visitors

A practical guide to designing posters that communicate more effectively.

This video builds on the idea that traditional research posters don’t work well, but focuses on evidence‑based design principles rather than layout alone. It explains how to create posters that draw more visitors, highlight your key message, and make your findings easier to understand at a glance. If you want concrete, research‑backed strategies for improving clarity and engagement, this video is a great companion to the #BetterPoster overview.
